General Care of Long Wool Rugs

Brisk shaking and regular brushing of the wool pile helps restore the soft, fluffy appearance and feel of the lamb skin.

Warning

1. Keep Babies and infants away from Long Wool Rugs to ensure they will not choke, chew or potentially suffocate within the long, open wool fibre.

2. Do not place Long Wool rugs within cots, bassinets, or pram liners or booster seats.

3. Do not wash this product as the long wool fibres will become entangled and knotting will occur.

4. Avoid placing near open fireplaces or electric heaters

a)    Stretch damp skin to shape – Pull skin out in all directions so it is flat.

b)    For best results, use clothes-line pegs to peg Lambskin / Stoller Liner flat to a drying rack. Ensure pegs are well positioned around the skin to maintain the natural shape of skin.

The lambskin should be pegged tight as possible to maximise skin size and shape.

c)    DO NOT DRY in direct sunlight.

d)    Dry in a well ventilated, shaded area slowly.

e)    Once skin has dried, remove pegs and pull skin in all directions to soften the leather fibres.

General Appearance after washing

The lambskins when packed have the wool pile combed to present as a soft ‘cosy’ appearance. However, after washing, the wool pile reverts to its natural crimp which does not appear as it did when new.

The images above demonstrate the combed & washed finishes. The comfort level of the washed lambskin is very evident in the feel as opposed to the combed lambskin as supplied.

Important Note for consumers: Whilst the combed feel is reduced by washing, the washed lambskin will now exhibit greater comfort – including pressure relief and added sheer & friction improvement in the wool.

Medical & Nursing Lambskins – Green (Chrome Tanned) – A10 Performance

Our Medical Green Lambskins have been produced inline with the CSIRO process standard, AS 4480.1-1998.

The tannage process used on our Medical Green Lambskins will render the skin as a REG-TEMP Australian Sheepskin.

Cleaning Recommendations

1.  A soiled skin should be immediately rinsed in cold water

2.   Machine Wash the REGTEMP Medical Sheepskin on gentle cycle for 10 minutes in hot water (up to 60 degrees Celsius)

3.   For effective washing and chemical disinfection, use a suitable non ionic liquid detergent such as the Tantech wool wash which has no enzymes, phosphates, peroxide, alkali or bleaching agents as these chemicals may cause irreversible damage to the leather.

4.   Use approximately 10mls of Tantech detergent if washing one skin only. Use 5mls of detergent if washing 2 skins or more.

5.   Drain and rinse for 3 minutes with warm water at 30-40 degrees Celsius.

6.   Repeat, Drain, and rinse cycles twice.

7.   Spin off excess water.

Drying

1.   Tumble Dry on warm setting – do not exceed 60 degrees Celsius.

2.   Alternatively, hang in dry shade away from direct heat. Flex skin vigorously to restore leather softness.
